E’ morto la notte scorsa a Manhattan per un attacco cardiaco Arthur Schlesinger jr. L’ex consigliere di Kennedy aveva 89 anni.
Schlesinger, che aveva vinto due volte il Pulitzer ed il National Book Award, era un collaboratore di Kennedy alla Casa Bianca ed uno storico che aveva esaminato le eredità di Franklin D. Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, John F. Kennedy e Robert Kennedy.
Aveva raccontato l’amministrazione Kennedy nel libro “A Thousand Days: John F. Kennedy in the White House, (“I mille giorni di John F. Kennedy alla Casa Bianca”, Rizzoli 1966), che vinse sia il Pulitzer che il National Book Award nel 1966.
In oltre 20 libri, Schlesinger aveva analizzato cultura e politica americana, contribuendo a definire il liberalismo Usa durante la Guerra Fredda.
